The Bloomberg Arts Internship (BAI) is an arts-administration focused summer internship in Baltimore, Boston, Detroit, New Orleans, New York City, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C. that provides high school interns with paid work experience at cultural institutions and organizations along with work readiness and college preparation support. Through this program, Bloomberg Philanthropies connects students with summer internships at local arts organizations and helps them to acquire the tools they need to succeed in high school, college, and as future adults and community leaders.
In 2019, EdVestors was selected to be the Boston partner responsible for implementing the BAI program. Program Model
The BAI program is one of the paid youth arts administration programs in Boston. Potential interns are recruited by EdVestors and the PIC to work in a nonprofit arts and culture organization. The interns’ interest in the arts is a key element of program recruitment.
BAI Boston incorporates a Creative Youth Development (CYD) approach and philosophy into the program design, which along with creativity and art-making includes: elevating youth voice and leadership; teamwork; self-identity, and connection building. The program model intentionally includes opportunities for the interns to share their art-making with one another and to work together in small teams. |
